Rules of the V Comic and Illustration Contest EXPOCÓMIC

The Spanish Association of Friends of the Comic, together with the Dolmen Publishing House and the C-10 Drawing Academy, announces the V Edition of the Comic and Illustration Contest.
1.- Participants
The contest is open to any participant in one or more of the categories, individually or collectively, being these residents in Spain. They may submit a maximum of three works per category. Works presented in other competitions that have been awarded, nor that have been published in any medium including the Internet, will not be accepted.
2.-Theme and Format.
The theme will be free and the chosen technique must allow its subsequent reproduction. Works can be presented in both color and black and white. In the comic category, the stories will be self-concluding. In both categories the story and characters must be original. The works will be presented in paper format, the works in digital format must be presented in some print format.
3.- Categories
Comic Category. They will have a minimum extension of 4 pages and a maximum of 8 in A4 or proportional format.
Category Illustration. They must be presented in A3 (maximum) - A4 (minimum) format.
4.-Delivery
At no time will the originals be delivered, sending quality photocopies to see the work done.
The back of all pages must include: Title of the Work, Name or pseudonym of the author and category to which it is submitted. An envelope with complete personal information will be included in the shipment: name and surname, address, contact telephone number and a photocopy of the DNI.

5.- Failure of the Contest.
The decision of the contest will be made in a single phase and will have a jury made up of: a comic artist, an editor, a bookseller and a member of the Association of Friends of Comics. The decision of the contest will be made public on November 3, 2008 on the website www.expocomic.com.
The jury will award the prizes and decide on issues not resolved in these rules. In addition, the prizes may be declared void if it is considered that the works do not have the necessary quality, as well as special second prize to other comics presented and not awarded.
6.- Awards
A prize will be awarded to each of the categories. The award will consist of a trip to the Angouleme Comic Fair (January 2009), including: entry, travel from Madrid and accommodation for each of the winners and a companion. In addition to the following awards in each category:
1st Prize: Annual course to choose from at the C-10 academy plus a drawing set, as well as a batch of comics (Editorial Dolmen) and the collection Aprende a Draw Cómics from Editorial Dolmen. And the publication of the work in the Expocómic 2008 catalog (with a circulation of 20.000 copies).
2nd Prize: Intensive course to choose from at the C-10 academy plus a set of drawing tools, as well as a set of comics (Editorial Dolmen) and the collection Learn to Draw Comics from Editorial Dolmen. And the publication of the work in the Expocómic 2008 catalog (with a circulation of 20.000 copies).
3rd Prize: One month in a drawing course of your choice at the C-10 academy plus a set of drawing tools plus a batch of comics (Editorial Dolmen).
7.-Others
The originals are the property of the authors. The organization has the right to use the submitted works for an unlimited time for any purpose, always indicating the name of the author and without modifying its content. Originals sent by mistake or by decision of the author will not be returned.
The winners will deliver the originals, within a maximum period of five days from the moment of communication of the jury's decision, to be shown in a special exhibition during Expocomic 2008, being available for withdrawal fifteen days after the end of the Show at the offices by Terracómic.
Participation in this contest implies acceptance of these bases. Any aspect not foreseen in these bases will be resolved by the organization or the jury.
