Alejandro Carrión Aguirre National Poetry Award (Ecuador)

  • Gender: Poetry

Base

  1. They will be able to compete all Ecuadorian poets living in the country over 18 years of age.
  2. El single award will be endowed with one thousand five hundred american dollars (1.500,00 USD) for the winner,
    in addition to printing the number of copies decided by the entity sponsor, of which
    40% will be delivered to the author. The winner agrees to attend the awards ceremony that will take place in Loja and that will be communicated with due anticipation. The winner will retain the copyright of his work, being his responsibility to register it in the Intellectual Property Registry.
  3. The award will be ruled in February 2016 and it may be declared deserted.
  4. The originals must be strictly unpublished in their entirety, including Internet, with a minimum length of 600 verses and maximum of 800. The works must be presented double spaced, in triplicate, on DIN A4 size sheets, properly ringed. Works sent by email will not be accepted.
  5. Both Thematic and versification will be free.
  6. The works will be presented under pseudonym, accompanied by a closed envelope (plica), on the outside of which the title of the work is stated and inside the name of the author, address, telephone number, copy of the citizenship card, as well as a digital copy on CD of the poems presented.   • With the purpose of recognizing and disseminating critical thinking about the most pressing problems and challenges of the contemporary world, from perspectives of a broad anti-colonial and anti-imperialist sense that contributes to articulating an emancipating political, economic and legal theory, committed to crucial environmental issues. and against the devastating effects of the hegemonic capitalist model in the material and spiritual order, the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, the Cuban Book Institute and the Nuevo Milenio Publishing House summon the XIII Edition of the Thinking a Contracorriente Award.
  1. They will be able to participate authors from any country with an unpublished essay, in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French (or translated into any of these languages) that must not be committed for its publication or have obtained prizes in other competitions.
  2. Essay must not have less than 20 pages or exceed 40. A ruled page is made up of 1 characters (800 lines of 30 characters each) for an admissible total of 60 to 36.000 characters.
  3. The bibliography and the notes must appear with all their elements rigorously ordered.
  4. No more than one work per author will be accepted.
  5. The essay must be submitted before the 15 of January of 2016 in an attached file (preferably .rtf, but also .doc., or in open format files, such as odt) in a single copy and a single message, duly identified with the full name of the author, age, identity card or identification card and current address, country, as well as a summary of your curriculum vitae, to the email address: countercurrent@cubarte.cult.cu . The author must receive confirmation of the receipt of his work from the contest coordinator, to notify the participation of his text in the contest.
  6. The award will consist of a Accrediting diploma and 1.000 euros for first place (If the winner is of Cuban nationality, the conversion will be made into cuc).
  7. The Jury may award up to ten mentions between both awards, without implying monetary remuneration.
  8. The Nuevo Milenio Publishing House, under its Social Sciences seal, will publish a book consisting of the awarded works and the mentions. The Cuban Book Institute reserves the rights of the first edition of the participating texts, a reservation valid for one year from the closing of the call, without representing any remuneration for the payment of Copyright.
  9. The jury's decision will be final and will be announced in Havana during the month of February 2016, in a Special Ceremony in the context of the International Book Fair of Cuba.

Steampunk Peru retrofuturist short story contest (Peru)

  1. Call: Steampunk Peru invites people of Peruvian nationality or residents of Peru to its first retrofuturist short story contest.
