Jacinta Cremades - Interview

  • ACTUALIDAD LITERATURA: Return to paris is your last novel. What do you tell us about it and where did the idea come from?

JACINTA CREAMS: The novel tells the Teresa's return to Paris, where she lived all her childhood and youth, upon the death of his mother Maite. He returns with his daughter Lucía to whom he tells, thanks to stories contained in boxes, the story of his mother who left her native Barcelona to abandon her family tradition and start a new life.

It is a novel that at the same time links the life of these three women from the same family: Maite, who arrives in Paris in May 68, Teresa, who remembers her childhood during the 80s, and Lucia, at the beginning of 2000. Part of my own return to Paris, where I also lived my childhood and youth. It is therefore a return to family roots, to existential questions and to the importance of transmission.

  • AL: Can you go back to that first book you read? And the first story you wrote?

JC: I have an image reading to my mother Le Petit Nicholas, and not the other way around, the two of them lying in a hotel bed during a trip to Greece.

My first novel was a kind of plagiarism of Reunion by Fred Uhlman, a story I read about the friendship between a Jewish boy and a Nazi boy that made a deep impression on me. Thank God I didn't finish it, otherwise I would have ended up in the kidnap dungeon.

  • AL: A head writer? You can choose more than one and from all eras.

JC:I like women, I can't help it! The sisters Bronte, Carmen Martin GaiteElizabeth strout and Nancy Huston

  • AL: What character in a book would you have liked to meet and create?

JC: I would have loved to meet the Count of Monte Cristo. And create the woman with alcuza scored by Dámaso Alonso.

  • AL: Any special habits or habits when it comes to writing or reading?

JC: I write awarded by the morning y leo awarded by the afternoon. He would be unable to do it the other way around.

  • AL: And your preferred place and time to do it?

JC: From day, in a house that we have in the field of Ávila.

  • AL: Are there other genres that you like?

JC: The novel, story, test They are the ones I like the most.

  • AL: What are you reading now? And writing?

JC: I'm reading The sisters of Borgo Sud by Donatella Di Pietrantonio, The diaries of Chirbes, and The collector of wonder scored by Rafael Narbona. And I'm typing a novel about Ireland whose characters still live in Paris.

  • AL: How do you think the publishing scene is and what decided you to try to publish?

JC: I think we are experiencing an explosion of publishers with very different profiles when it comes to publishing. All of them are committed to publicize the text, literary, historical, essay. They are there for the love of literature and that is a miracle

  • AL: Is the moment of crisis that we are experiencing being difficult for you or can you keep something positive for future stories?

JC: Society has changed so much that it will be necessary to speak, write, about a before and after of the human being. I have to make an effort to see it positive. The best thing is the reach we have to the intellectual contents of the internet, although it is also our great downfall. The truth is that if they had let me choose the time to be born, I would not have chosen this ...
