CONTEST "THE STRATEGY OF CIEMPIÉS" (Ecuador)

  • Genre: Story
  • Award: Edition (anthology)
  • Open to: from 18 years onwards

Base

  • La story theme It must be about physical or intellectual disabilities or interculturality, as follows: a) Situations associated with characters who suffer from a physical or intellectual disability, and / or their problems to be included in daily life, understanding, school, work, affective life, social life, mobility, etc.
    b) Situations that denote interculturality and its problems, understanding by interculturality the interrelations, synergies and problems associated with the coexistence of several cultures, peoples and nationalities in the same space.
  • Authors' texts will be received since 18 years onwards.
  • Preference will be given to texts that can be read in the regular educational system; that is to say, young reading public, readers of twelve years and older.
  • Texts must have a maximum extension of ten pages in traditional format (Word document, times new roman font, size 12 to space and a half). Micro-stories will also be taken into account.
  • Each author you can send up to two texts  of his authorship (with title), unpublished or previously published. In the latter case, the authors assume responsibility for any inconvenience that may arise from the reproduction rights and copyrights assigned in previous publications.
  • El maximum delivery time of the texts will be on February 13, 2016 to the electronic address indicated below.
  • Colectivo Quilago reserves the right to select texts, layout, and correct if necessary. Each author will be informed what has been resolved.
  • The works should be sent to the mail of the collective: collectivequilago@gmail.com A Word document with the author's data will be attached to be published together with the text. The works that are not taken into account for publication will be destroyed.
  • The authors who respond to this call authorize us to make use of the texts sent, without prejudice to the fact that they may later publish them in other spaces or send them to contests.
  • The authors selected for the anthology will receive two copies of the book once it is published.
  • The selected authors will have the option of being part of the book promotion activities in the city of Quito.

ANNUAL COMMON PLACE LIBRARY CONTEST (Venezuela)

  • Genre: Poetry
  • Prize: one million two hundred thousand bolivars (Bs 1.200000,00) and edition
  • Open to: residents of the country, who were born from the sixties
  • Organizing entity: Embassy of the Republic of Italy and the Common Place Library
  • Country of the convening entity: Venezuela
  • Closing date: 14/02/2016

Base

The Embassy of the Republic of Italy and the Common Place Library promote the convening of the Annual Common Place Library Poetry Contest in order to disseminate poetry written in Venezuela within and outside the country.

  • All Venezuelan poets, as well as those from other latitudes, residing in the country, who were born from the sixties.
  • The works must be original and unpublished, and sent by email to the following address: libreria.lugarcomun@gmail.com. The name of the contest must be specified in the "subject" of the email.
  • Each e-mail, sent by its author, will contain two files presented in Word (Microsoft Office) format. The first will include the work that is proposed to the Annual Common Place Library Poetry Contest, identified with its respective title and pseudonym. The second file will be identified with the name "PLICA" and under this title in capital letters, the pseudonym that identifies the author will be written; The following materials will be consigned in it: photocopy of the identity document, brief and signed statement where the author certifies that the work is original and unpublished, his physical and electronic address and the telephone or cell phone number.
  • Authors may compete with a maximum of two unpublished books.
  • The works must not be signed with the name of their author, as established in point number three of these bases.
  • The works will present the following editorial characteristics: they will have a minimum of four hundred (400) verses, written in the family typographic Garamond, preferably two spaces or 1,5 spacing spaces.
  • El prize money It consists of one million two hundred thousand bolivars (Bs 1.200000,00) and the bilingual Italian-Spanish publication of the winning work in the publishing house El Estilete. The publication will be effective in the second half of 2016 and will be distributed in both Venezuela and Italy.
  • No mentions of any kind will be awarded and the award may be declared void if the jury does not find sufficient merits to decide the award by a simple majority.
  • The reasoned verdict will contain the title of a single winning work and will be made public at least one week before the day set for the award ceremony.
  • The award will be awarded during the month of April 2016, in the context of the Chacao Reading Festival, in a special event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Italy and the Espacio Común Bookstore.
  • The jury for this award, this time, will be made up of the poets Silvio Mignano, Gina Saraceni, Arturo Gutiérrez Plaza and Alfredo Herrera.
  • The reception of originals will be open from the date of publication of these bases and will close on February 14, 2016.

XXI EL BARCO DE VAPOR AWARD 2016 (Mexico)

  • Gender: Children and youth

  • Country of the convening entity: Mexico

Base

  • Participants: All writers of legal age residing in Mexico may participate. They must present narrative texts aimed at children, original, unpublished, written in the Spanish language and that have not been previously awarded in any contest. Workers from Fundación SM, Grupo SM or from the General Directorate of Publications of Conaculta will not be able to present themselves for the award. Neither can the winners of any previous edition of this award or those who are competing at the same time for the Gran Angular award.
  • Presentation of the works: Each participant may compete with only one original. The work must be signed with a pseudonym. During the validity of this call, the work cannot be in editorial opinion or in any literary contest. The length of the work will be a minimum of 40 pages and a maximum of 250. The Times New Roman font will be used at 12 points with 1.5 line spacing.     The works must include on the first page the name of the award, the title of the work and the pseudonym of the author. A sealed envelope must be delivered separately, labeled with the author's pseudonym, the name of the award and the name of the work, containing:

    I. Name, surname, age, address, telephone, email and a brief profile of the author.

    II. Written statement expressly stating:
    • that the work presented is original and unpublished;
    • that it has not been awarded in any contest;
    • that it is not pending a ruling on other awards or editorial opinion;
    • that the author has full availability of the exploitation rights and, therefore, nothing prevents the direct and exclusive transfer of the exploitation rights in favor of Ediciones SM;
    • that the author accepts all the terms of the El Barco de Vapor award;
    • date and original signature.

  • Registration: Additionally, those interested must register and attach their manuscript in the section of this Award, on the page: www.fundacionsm.org.mx
  • Term: Originals will be received from the time of publication of this call (October 22, 2015) and until 19:00 p.m. on February 19, 2016. In the case of papers sent by post, the date of the postmark.
  • Jury and ruling: The decision of the contest will be announced through a press conference no later than June 30, 2016. The SM Foundation and the General Directorate of Publications of the National Council for Culture and the Arts will appoint the jury.
  • Prize: A single and indivisible award of $ 150,000.00 (one hundred and fifty thousand pesos MN) is established as an advance on account of royalties for the publication of the work, which will be made jointly between Ediciones SM (in the El Barco de Vapor collection) and the National Council for Culture and the Arts, through the General Directorate of Publications. The conditions of the contract and editorial characteristics will be adjusted to the copyright policies of Ediciones SM and the criteria defined by the publisher. XII PRIZE DR. ENRIQUE PEÑA GUTIÉRREZ (Mexico)

Base

  • Everyone can participate Mexican poets and writers residing in the country.
  • They will participate in the genres of short stories and poetry. written in Spanish.
  • Participants will send an unpublished story with minimum extension 10 and maximum 15 pages.
  • In poetry it will be unpublished, extension and free theme.
  • Unique prize per gender $ 50,000.00, edition and diploma

  • Contestants will sign their works with a pseudonym, personal data, include curriculum vitae, copy of INE credential, personal photograph separately, in a sealed envelope and labeled on the outside with the same pseudonym.
  • The identification papers will be deposited with Dr. Rubén Elias Gil Levya Morales, Notary Public, domiciled in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa. The Notary will only open those that the qualifying jury indicates and will destroy the rest.
  • The contest is open from October 23, 2015 and will close on February 23, 2016.
  • The qualifying jury will be made up of recognized writers and poets, who will be appointed by the Board of Directors of this Foundation.

  • The Foundation will publish the winning works, reserving the rights of the first edition.
  • The Dr. Enrique Peña Gutiérrez Foundation, AC will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the winners in the city of Mocorito, where the award ceremony will take place on May 22, 2016.
  • Contestant works that have not been awarded will not be returned.
  • Members of the Foundation will not participate in the contest.
  • Any case not considered in the clauses of this call will be resolved by the Board of Directors of the Foundation.
