2nd edition of the International Graphic Novel Award

From Fruit spinner great news comes to us:

After the success obtained in its premiere last year, Fnac and Ediciones Sins Entido announce the second edition of its International Prize for Graphic Novels, continuing with its commitment to the promotion of literary production in the field of comics.

In its first edition, to which more than 160 works were submitted, the award went to the author Jorge González after deliberation by a jury composed of the writer Ángela Vallvey, the critic Álvaro Pons, the journalist Peio Hernández, Ramón Reboiras (former director de Acción Cultural de Fnac España) and Jesús Moreno (editor of Sins Entido), who unanimously chose Fueye, González's work, as the winner.

The Argentine is now in the process of creating the graphic novel that will be published at the end of 2008. Meanwhile, the production process can be followed through the author's blog on the Fnac cultural portal www.clubcultura.com

The deadline for submission of works in this second edition of the Fnac-Sins Entido Graphic Novel International Award is now open and ends on November 30, 2008; and the bases that will govern the award are the following:

# They are written in Spanish.

4 Deadlines

The deadline for the admission of proposals will be closed on November 30, 2008. The Jury will meet and issue the ruling that will be communicated in January 2009. The winning author will undertake to deliver the finished project in the last week of June 2009. The winning work will be published in October 2009.

Non-awarded works will not be returned. As they are not original, they will be destroyed once the process is finished.

5. Composition of the Jury

The Jury will be made up of cultural professionals and will be appointed for this purpose by the promoting entities, which reserve the possibility for a reading committee to select from the originals presented as many finalists as it deems appropriate.

6. Prize and decision of the Jury

A single and indivisible prize of 8.000 euros will be awarded (to be paid in two payments: 50% of the amount after communication of the ruling; and the remaining 50% at the time of publication). The winning work will be published by Ediciones Sins Entido, which will be responsible for production and editing, and the winner will sign a contract with this publisher. At the same time, Fnac reserves the right to mount with the originals of the winning work an exhibition that could be exhibited in its galleries, both in Spain and in other countries.

The amount of the award will be subject to the legislation on withholding tax regulations.

The decision of the Jury will be final, the award may not be declared void and will be awarded to that work among those submitted that unanimously or, failing that, by majority vote of the Jury, is considered worthy of being awarded.

7. Distribution and public presentation

The winning work will be distributed by Sins Entido and Fnac will guarantee its special implementation and communication in all its commercial spaces.

The public presentation of the award will take place in one of the Fnac Forums, whichever the Organization deems most appropriate.

The fact of taking part in the contest implies full acceptance of the rules.
